The Fourth Industrial Revolution has quite literally transformed the world we live in today. Technologies like artificial intelligence and robotics are no longer confined to just high-tech roles and science fiction, but are now reshaping how we live and learn; be that in classrooms, industries as well as everyday life! Yet, the access to such incredible innovations remains strikingly unequal.
Within developing countries like India especially, a clear technological divide still persists. Young students from underserved regions often lack basic exposure to digital tools, let alone the chance to experiment and find their calling within specific STEM fields like robotics. According to the India Inequality Report 2022, nearly 70% of the population has little to no access to digital infrastructure; a gap that only further widens educational and economic divides between rural and urban communities.
Lab Rats is a project that aims to tackle just this – not just by teaching robotics, but by using it as a gateway to spark curiosity and creativity among the Indian youth. By combining hands-on tech learning with elements like problem-solving and sustainability, the initiative hopes to equip students with the tools and support they need to become both – empowered learners and future changemakers in a world that is continuously evolving.
